Twonky media server license key 11: Why you need it for your DLNA devices

You may need to be IN the twonkymedia-7 directory (or what ever directory is correct on the v2.x firmware) when you using the wget command and unzip the files otherwise the files may be unzipped into the wrong directory/location.

twonky media server license key 11

Need to do the same. Would you provide simple instruction for someone who has no idea of SSH? How to login via SSH?How to copy paste file to twonkymedia-7 folder?Appreciate really simple guide

We do not track any actions you take in the program. How many other media servers can claim that?Your server is as secure as your home network, and all external requests are made via secure connections.

TwonkyMedia server (TMS) is DLNA-compliant[1] UPnP AV server software originally offered by TwonkyVision GmbH. TMS runs on Linux, macOS, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Android and QNX operating systems. TwonkyMedia server can be used to share and stream media to most UPnP AV or DLNA-compliant clients, in addition to non-UPnP devices through the HTML, RSS, and JSON supported front ends. After the PacketVideo acquisition of Berlin-based TwonkyVision GmbH by 17 October 2006,[2] Twonky was renamed PVConnect in November 2007,[3][4][5] but the name was changed back to TwonkyMedia server by 7 January 2010.[6][7][8] Corporate parent NTT DOCOMO sold PacketVideo NorthAmerica and Europe to Lynx Technology on 10 May 2015 and PacketVideo Japan exactly one year later on 10 May 2016 transferring the Twonky product line to Lynx, renaming TwonkyMedia Server to Twonky Server.[9][10][11]

DLNA compatible devices can be connected to a home network just like a computer or smartphone. Once the connection is established, you can browse selected folders on your media server PC right from your TV screen and select music to listen to, or photos and videos to watch.

Note: A Digital Media Controller can also be used as an optional device that finds content on digital media servers and plays it on digital media players. Some examples of these items are: Internet tablets, Wi-Fi enabled digital cameras and personal digital assistants (PDA). More information regarding DLNA and all its requirements can be found at

In fact twonkyserver does not stop. Mediaserver.pid does not exist in the /var/run directory. I think this is due to a name change in the process from mediaserver to twonkyserver at some stage. My old version (5) ran as mediaserver iirc.

I then went through, and repeated the second half of the steps, making sure that I tried the killall twonky* command, but killall didn't find those two files, and they reappeared in the same error message when I started the new server again.

I really need some help. I updated twonky on my WD Mybook ages ago and it all worked fine, but as of last wednesday, suddenly, I cant find the twonky server anymore. Logging in using putty and attempting to start the service, it says twonky is already running, but I still cant find it. I tried stopping and starting twonky, rebooting the NAS, reinstalling twonky, but so far, nothing. As far as I know, nothing has been changed firewall wise. Anyone any ideas what I can do to fix it?

Currently I'm in a mess as I cleaned up and obviously deleted some important files. When accessing through webinterface I can't get through (can't Access page).stopping/starting twonky indicates that mediaserver.pid can't be found.I tried to work through this threat but didn't find a solution. Is there somewhere a list of all necessary files and folders to run a specific twonky version? Or to do a full new Installation?Rolf

Nice job in compiling this instructions, I just finished updating my twonky to 7.2.8.A little trail and error but it worked nonetheless.I'm now enjoying the 30 day trail version and will be buying a license after that.

Unfortunately I upgraded my media server using another guide (found some weeks ago on this forum), so my directory structure is slightly different. For example I created a twonky7 folder and edit with nano a file (I don't remember which) to make the server point to the other folder.

Followed the instructions and everything seems to work somehow, but:- Streaming start to my WDTVLIVE is very slow.- If I list the processes in Mybook there is multiple processes "twonkyserver"Is this how it should be?

When you log into your units interface you will have one of two options. If your unit has an option for "media server" then you are running twonkey. If your unit says anything about "PVConnect" or something similar then you are running PVConnect. 2ff7e9595c
